If you support nationally led development, come check out the new blog!

We're live! It's our first blog post! Do you agree that developing national capacities is the key to providing real solutions to development challenges that will work, and last over time? If you agree, and you have opinions, then this is the blog for you!

Who are we? We are a group of like minded development practitioners exploring the world of capacity development - from central and local governments, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academia, and United Nations agencies. Our writers come from a pool of almost 100 development practitioners, not only in the region of Europe and the CIS, but also from across the globe.

Why are we blogging? We want to share our thoughts on the latest thinking on how to best provide development assistance. We believe in nationally led development, and are concerned with the nuts and bolts of ensuring that development assistance makes a difference. We want to learn from each other... what works, where are the big question marks, what could we possibly team up on?

Conversation will always be through the lens of developing capacities, but can cover any area of development.  Expect lively debates on coordinating development aid, change management, project implementation and delivering public goods and services. But be ready for the unexpected too!

We love feedback. You are encouraged to comment and to write posts. Comments will be reviewed before they are posted, but rest assured, they will be posted if they are relevant to capacity development and respect the values of the United Nations. If you want to start a new conversation, you can E-mail: blythe.fraser@undp.org.

We look forward to the conversations to come!

What's next: We'll be blogging from Zagreb next week where UNDP development practitioners from Europe and the CIS are meeting to discuss national implementation capacities , so stay tuned!
