The course provides everything from a theoretical basis in gender concepts to more practical lessons on how to reflect the different needs of women and men in decision-making and government budgets. By now almost 200 government officials have taken the course, Galina Kalinaeva, Gender Advisor in the Russia office of UNDP, said yesterday at a meeting between UNDP and national partners to review the project's results. United Nations reports on the refugee influx in KyrgyzstanBishkek, Kyrgyzstan, 18 May 2005 - Soon after the events in eastern Uzbekistan unfolded, the United Nations Agencies in Bishkek were informed of a possible refugee influx into Kyrgyzstan, and the United Nations Country Team established a crisis management team on 14 May to prepare a response. UNHCR was designated as the lead agency and a Working Group was also set up to monitor the situation and coordinate support activities.
