Libraries for the future

1 April 2008

Bulgaria, 1 April 2008 – This month sees the start of a year-long planning process at the beginning of a large-scale partnership to equip Bulgarian libraries to give Internet access to all citizens. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Culture and UNDP will cooperate in a process designed to ensure permanent improvement in access to information in the country.

Agenda to create an information society in Southeastern Europe gains momentum

Brussels, 17 March 2005 - The Electronic Southeastern Europe (eSEE) Secretariat, a regional organization based in Sarajevo and supported by UNDP, met high-level officials from the European Commission Information Society Directorate and the Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, during the regular eSEE Working Group meeting in Brussels on Friday, 18 March 2005. Government Officials from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia and Montenegro and Kosovo also participated in this meeting. 



CARNet expands its activities in Central Asia and holds a meeting in Kyrgyzstan

November 19, 2004 - A workshop, devoted to the activities of the subregional network CARNet, took place on November 13-15, 2004 in the Pinara Bishkek Hotel.The participants from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan discussed network activity results for the period from June 2004 to November 2004 and drafted a strategy for 2005-2006.
