The objectives of the project will contribute to the social inclusion of this community in Albanian society. Description: The project will coordinate the activities of agencies working with vulnerable minorities and provide direct assistance to the poorest and most marginalized Roma communities at the local level (villages and quarters) in three regions of Albania: Tirana, Elbasan and Fier. The project activities will directly assist the communities at the local level by facilitating their access to social services, promoting participatory planning, developing local infrastructure and working in partnership with government and civil society to implement the National Roma Strategy. Outputs: Social and economic aid Roma and Egyptian families living in these regions will be registered and linked to social and economic aid. Employment, education, health and police Children will be enrolled in primary schools and older members of the community, including women, will complete vocational training. Health, education and police mediators will be trained to liaise between service providers and the community. Infrastructure projects Community-based organizations (CBOs) will be formed in each region and these will be responsible for developing several infrastructure projects in the communities. Local governance Local and central government officials will be trained in minority rights and intercultural understanding. In each region, a volunteer Roma Regional Committee will be established. |
