DESCRIPTION:
 
The objective of the project is to support the Government in reducing the gender gaps that were highlighted in the concluding comments of the CEDAW Committee in August 2006. This will be done via enacting legislation, building national capacity to implement the existing and new legislation, raising awareness and organizing training courses on CEDAW areas, building capacity of the involved institutions and actors, enhancing research capacity, developing and lobbying related legislation, and mobilizing civil society
 
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 
To reach the project objective, the project will facilitate the delivery of main inputs required for the 1) supporting gender research and gender related statistics; 2) the development and improvement of gender-related legislation; 3) capacity building of state agencies and civil society in implementation of CEDAW Committee recommendations and empowerment of women; and 4) highlighting gender issues in Welfare Improvement Strategy Paper.
