DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
The project uses a three-pronged approach, focusing on civil society engagement in several distinct areas: 1) Support further decentralization of social services and public-civil society partnership (through Social Innovations fund) in the provision of community – based social services, 2) Strengthen civil society engagement in poverty alleviation and 3) Support gender mainstreaming in sectoral policies with primary focus on social policy area, whilst promoting the establishment of public - civil society dialogue on a more permanent basis as well as the appropriate involvement of the National Assembly in gender equality related debate. 

 
DESCRIPTION OF GENDER RELATED ACTIVITIES:
EAR project furthers UNDP support for gender equality related activities in Republic of Serbia. The overarching goal is to facilitate institutionalization of dialogue between government and civil society on gender issues in order to mainstream gender equality across different sectoral areas.
 
 
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
  • Organization of roundtables in the National Assembly and support to the Gender Equality Directorate in the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy (GED) & civil society forum, thus increasing the opportunity for CSO engagement in dialogue with the legislative and executive branches of the Government on gender equality and women’s human rights;
  • Support to CSO's for raising awareness on CEDAW concluding comments and monitoring of implementation of CEDAW recommendations (focus on rural women, Roma women, women entrepreneurs, women on the labour market);
  • Policy research studies, covering the area of social welfare services and employment related issues
  • Capacity building of policy makers, experts and relevant CSOs in ex ante impact assessment methodologies;
  • Support to Gender Equality Directorate in the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs in conducting legal analysis; internships, organization of national conferences (violence against women, women and political decision-making);  
  • Support for the analysis of educational materials and curricula from gender perspective;
  • Advocacy for improved data gathering and gender desegregated statistics (time use survey):
  • Support to UN Gender Theme Group.

Overall budget:  4,5 million USD overall
