International Women's Day Brunch, 6th March 2009
United Nations Development Programme' s Bratislava Regional Center & United Nations Development Fund for Women organized in cooperation with Institute for Public Affairs on Friday, March 6 th, 2009 International Women’s Day Brunch. To commemorate the occasion of the International Women’s Day, UNIFEM and UNDP BRC gender team hosted a presentation of “SHE & HE in Slovakia: Gender & Age in the Period of Transition” The presentation given by Oľga Gyárfášová, Program Director & Senior Research Fellow, Institute for Public Affairs, was focusing on the recent IVO's publication representing one of the main outcomes of three years long project dedicated to gender and age discrimination and position of elderly people and especially women in society and on labour market. The 34 participants included UNDP & UNIFEM staff members as well as representatives from academia & research institutions, women and feminist non-governmental organizations, diplomatic community, and the Ministry of labour, social affairs and family. The presentation was followed by lively discussion, including the implication of part-time employment on women's status, and potential impact of global finacial crisis on gender equality.
