DESCRIPTION:

The project’s objective is to empower migrants’ wives in selected rural areas by enhancing their health and socio-economic conditions.

The project, conducted at village and Jamoat levels, is planned in 3 phases over a total period of 2 and a half years: (1) Social mobilization and building migrants’ wives groups; (2) Capacity-building of migrants’ wives groups in a broad-range of areas, such as vocational training, income-generating activities, improvement of reproductive health, etc; (3) Ensuring the sustainability of migrants’ wives groups. This joint project will bring the specific expertise of each participating agency in building the capacity of migrants’ wives.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:

-          Mobilizing groups of migrants’ wives and providing them with adequate institutional capacity building support

-          Provision of income generating and skills building opportunities to migrants’ wives

-          Conducting Behaviour Change interventions in the sphere of reproductive health and family planning, including HIV/AIDS

-          Improvement of the health facilities in areas particularly affected by migration

-          Empowering migrants’ wives in decision-making and in protecting their rights with their family and community
