The development objective of this sub-regional Gender Equality Program is to promote gender equality in BiH, Serbia and Montenegro. It will be done so by creating a critical mass of gender competent professionals in targeted key government offices, the International Community and civil society organizations especially those in the areas of rule of law, health, education and the media. Objectives of the Project 1) contribute to the creation of a critical mass of gender competent professionals in targeted civil society organizations and selected government ministries especially those in the areas of rule of law, health, education and media that are gender sensitised and able to effectively integrate gender equality into their policies/strategies/implementation plans, 2) help build the capacity of newly established gender equality institutions, and 3) raise the public’s awareness on gender equality to strengthen the dialogue with governments/relevant organizations to implement existing or new gender equality legislation. MAIN ACTIVITIES: The project is divided into three stages: 1) a comprehensive analysis in all countries on the level of awareness and professional understanding of gender equality; 2) the development and implementation of training modules and training of trainers to key targeted groups and 3) strategic awareness-building campaigns through the media that includes a series of politically visible events by taking advantage of the 10th Anniversary of the Beijing Platform of Action in 2005. |
