Major activities

The objective of this project is ‘to provide vocational training for the vulnerable to enhance their opportunity for integration into the workplace and society more generally, thus promoting equal opportunities and improving the self-esteem and dignity for this group’ as stated in the Strategy at Section II below.


The Project will assist the Government of St. Helena to comply with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, namely to “promote, protect and ensure the full equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms by all disabled people, and to promote respect for their dignity on an equal basis with all people”.


The aims of this project are consistent with the recommendations of the previous UNDP funded project ‘Training and Retraining of the Long-Term Unemployed’. The Terminal Report of this Project and its recommendations are included in Annex II of this Project Document.
