Major activities

The project aims at building capacity of the Azeri public and private sector to involve in and benefit from participation in the CDM.

Key achievements/ Results of Project:

Development of CDM legal framework and procedures for CDM project review and approval; Capacity building for DNA;

Study to assess CDM potential and national CDM strategy;

"Learning by doing" capacity development for CDM project proponents and preparation of Project Development Documents

Impact

Building partnership with Norway will facilitate transfer of the world's most advanced knowledge and technology to reduce GHGs emissions.As an instrument of industrial development and poverty alleviation CDM will also assist in meeting the Millennium Development Goals through diversified economic development using strategies that incorporate means other than carbon dependence. The project's success should mean that the government can more clearly assess what role the CDM projects can play in meeting broader policy objectives.
