The Capacity Development Practice - who we are and what we do

The Capacity Development Practice is the regional arm of the global Capacity Development Group (CDG) working out of the Bratislava Regional Centre.

The Capacity Development Practice works closely with country offices and UN country teams, providing policy advice, consulting services on capacity development and programmatic support. This includes:

The Capacity Development Practice collaborates with other practices – Democratic Governance; Poverty Reduction; Crisis Prevention and Recovery; Environment and Energy; HIV/AIDS; and Gender Equality – to apply the capacity development approach and thus to prioritize national assets, such as skills, knowledge, institutions and systems – as the starting point for stakeholder engagement, assessment and response.

The Capacity Development Practice brings you a substantial knowledge and evidence base in growing and retaining national capacity for better human development.

We can connect you with the capacity development Community of Practice, comprised of over 80 experienced national and local government officials, specialist consultants, prominent members of academia, NGOs and think-tanks, UN colleagues, and other development partners.
