Restart Slovakia poster

ReStart Slovensko is an initiative that creates space for people, who apart from spotting problems, are also good at solving them.

After the success of Restart Romania, the Centre for Philanthropy and TechSoup Global are going to test Slovak waters. They are currently on the hunt for fixes to Slovakia’s problems.

Everyone – citizens, nongovernmental organizations, start-ups – is more than welcome to submit their ideas until 14 October.

The projects should be related to the following topics:

  • Public space
  • Transparency
  • Anti-corruption
  • Good governance
  • Rule of law

The end game is to come up with web and mobile apps – strictly open source and strictly for the greater good.

From 15 to 22 October the projects will undergo public scrutiny and the seven most interesting will get to go to a 48 hour hack camp held in Žilina.

The nice part is that you don’t need to be a programming expert or a web designer. If your idea or project is good enough you will be given technical help.

The top three projects get 5,000 euros each to produce a functioning prototype.

So stop grumbling at home about how things in Slovakia don’t work and change them yourself.
